Directions to Cromarty
By car
From the south, take the A9 north from Inverness across the Kessock Bridge, then carry on to the Tore roundabout turning right onto the A832 to Cromarty. The 22-mile drive will take approximately 35 minutes.
By coach and rail
National coach and rail services operate to Inverness. Stagecoach runs frequent buses on the 26/26A/26B/26C route (Inverness – North Kessock – Fortrose – Rosemarkie – Cromarty) from Monday to Friday with a restricted service at the weekend (single bus only on Sundays). The Cromarty bus leaves from the Inverness bus station (just a few steps further along from the train station). Routes and times may change. Check the latest timetable on the Stagecoach website.
By air
Inverness airport (Dalcross) is the principal air hub for the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Air services operate between Inverness and London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and other UK regional airports. Some continental and charter flights are also available, particularly during the tourist season.
By ferry
The Cromarty to Nigg ferry usually runs throughout the summer, leaving Cromarty on the hour and half hour, returning from Nigg at a quarter to and a quarter past the hour. Highland Ferries took over the Cromarty-Nigg run in 2016 with the Renfrew Rose. Service has concluded for the season and will, hopefully, resume for the 2017 summer season.
